In my life, the path set by my parents introduced me to an upbringing where culture and discipline were paramount. Growing up in a small town in Canada, with demanding parents, shaped my early years. Piano and studies were my daily routine, but deep down, my heart beat for the social sciences.
Cégep Jean de Brébeuf was a revelation, an awakening to the intricacies of societies, to the nuances of politics. Despite parental opposition, I charted my own course, pursuing my studies to a master's degree on the relations between ASEAN and the EU. Early marriage brought its share of questioning, ultimately leading me to choose the path of freedom and the desire to pursue my dreams.
Meeting Karim was a turning point, an alignment of ambitions and passions. Despite external judgments and trials, our union became the foundation upon which to build our dreams. Challenges, whether familial or personal, only served to strengthen our resilience and determination to succeed together.
Thus Anthology was born, the fruit of our dreams and hard work. In this realm, I found a new avenue of expression through painting, blending my ideas and emotions onto the canvas. Inspired by philosophers and writers such as Hannah Arendt, Walter Benjamin, Edward Said, Adorno, and Foucault, my works reflect my own daily evolution.
Today, my canvases travel the world, finding their place in homes from New York to London, Paris to Tokyo, and beyond. I've participated in numerous exhibitions in cities like London, Paris, Montreal, and Venice. Heeding the wisdom of artists like David Bowie, who championed artistic autonomy, my decisions aim to respect this desire of liberty.
I allow myself to create abstract art without limits, guided by my thoughts and emotions. In my view, art is an expression of the daily evolution I experience, and like me, my works continue to evolve over time. I also believe that in our culture of immediacy, where everything is constantly in motion, repeating the same thing day after day should not be part of an artist's journey.
I am dedicated to crafting thought-provoking and emotionally evocative abstract art that invites viewers to contemplate their own experiences and perspectives. I strive to embrace perpetual transformation and welcome the diverse range of ideas and sensory experiences embodied in each of my pieces. Rather than shunning change, I recognize it as an integral part of both the creative process and the human experience.
